Drive - Straight through the night
What to say about Drive?  First off, it’s a love story with a good dose of thriller/action splashed all over it. This whole movie is about a boy who likes a girl. And guys, you know that can lead to trouble, right? It sure does! Our main character, played by the (I am getting more talented by the film) Ryan Gosling, is a driver for hire who gets mixed up with the lovely Carey Mulligan because...

Fall: Love, hate relationship
I love fall for a few reasons one its a great temperature out. Two fall tv is always better then summer tv. I hate the fall because all the movies that come out are crap or not so great my prime example this weekend.  Dolphin Tale; COME ON REALLY? Killer Elite; I will watch this but I know that it is action mind mush.  Money Ball; There has to be a sport movie that gets a Oscar nod,...

Back from a little summer R&R
Back to it. I just finished reading the Hunger Games book series and was happily impressed with the whole thing. I can’t wait to see movies. Here is a teaser trailer.  what are your thoughts? Is this going to a a great adaptation or Hollywood money grab?

Flick Picks: One and only one
Limitless - Starring Bradley Cooper, Robert De Niro. Bradly plays a nobody writer that stumbles on a wonder drug that allows him to use his brain to the fullest. Comedy and amazing success follow but the good times never last. This is one of those take or leave types but that said it’s worth considering compared to what else came out today ( Blood out and Tekken when did these even get...

Is your Potter Harry?
First thoughts… Well, first off, after seeing the last night’s midnight premier, I know that I will have to watch Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II again before I can really form my final opinion. Honestly, my first impressions were DISAPPOINTING. I felt let down in much the same way I did when watching the final installment of the Godfather movies… The first one was (and in HP’s...

Flick Picks: DVD Releases
Lincoln Lawyer - Matthew McConaughey plays Mick Haller a lawyer working out of a Lincoln (hence the title) usually working with criminals and gangsters but when a wealthy real estate family has some issues he takes them on. This movie turns out to be a easy watch, Matthew is fun to watch as a lawyer and investigator. Grab a pizza on a Friday night and enjoy.   Verdict - Better then expected...

This question haunts my dreams. I have a large DVD collection (as someone would with a movie blog right?) so I have been a struggle. Should I replace the standard regular quality DVD and introduce the ALL MIGHTY and way better quality Blu-Ray?

Weekend watchers - To laugh or not to laugh
Horrible Bosses - Well what do we have here? It looks like a comedy but is it? Starring three of my favorite funny men Jason Sudeikis (Hall Pass and SNL), Jason Bateman (Arrested Development) and Charlie Day (Going the Distance). It has some funny promise but the way the summer has been going its anyone guess. Zoo Keeper - Yup funny man Kevin James doing what he does best. This one is for the...

Holiday is over now back to it...Green Lantern and...
Hi folks I was off on a quick tour of Washington D.C and New York City. Now I am back. Bringing you some kind of  guide on what to watch and what not to watch. I mean really life is short enough no sense in watching crap if you can avoid it right?  While I was away I made the huge mistake of seeing the Green Lantern. I know this warring is a little late but under NO circumstance should you or any...

Weekend Watcher - Penguins and Lanterns how can...
Green Lantern - I am starting to think that every other movie coming out this summer is a super hero movie. Here is one from DC, Green Lantern. Ryan Reynolds is Hal Jordan sworn to protect the universe as the newest member of the Green Lantern Corps. Expect big action and LOTS of special effects.  Mr. Popper’s Penguins - Fun for the whole family. Jim Carry doing what he is does...

Super 8 is S-U-P-E-R
Oh J.J., you have done it again. I watched Super 8 on Friday night at my very favorite theater (you know, assigned seating and seat-side service – love it). Unfortunately, the previews where meh (nothing I hadn’t seen before), but in the end that didn’t take away from the experience. The film opens in a powerful way, managing to say something without saying anything. After that, I was...

Weekend watcher Super 8 - E.T for a new...
I have been staying away from any reviews of Super 8, JJ Abrams (Lost, Star Trek) newest film. I feel the less I know about this film, the better the experience will be. I have allowed myself to see two trailers just to get a feel for it, and my first thought was ET. I mean it seems to have a little more bang, but there are lots of ET undertones. I could be way off with this, it’s been known to...

Hangover 2 is it just 'ctrl c'?
I have strong feelings about sequels that are made just because the first did well. The stories feel rushed and not very well planned out. The Hangover 2 is the prime example of what I hate. The first hangover was a hidden gem of a comedy and that was part of the fun it wasn’t well advertised and I had zero expectations. Don’t get me wrong I understand that Hollywood studios have to...

I Saw the Devil - We should take Korean films...
I Saw the Devil - Oh totally over looked this coming out last week . Let me tell you it is fantastic, not for the faint of heart but a great film. I have been watching more and more foreign films to get way from the BIG block bluster crap coming form Hollywood these days and I have been impressed with a lot of the worldly offerings. Have you been enjoying any foreign language films?

African Cats
Went to see African Cats last week. It a first for me in the Disney series of Earth films. I enjoyed the story, which told of two African cats, mothers, and the struggles they go through to survive. Just a day after seeing this movie, I lost my Grandmother, and it made me think. Once a caregiver has done the job they were put here to do, on an animal level, do they know it’s ok for them to...

Flick Picks: Don't know how to feel
No Strings Attached - RomCom starring I am in everything lately Natalie Portman and the Twitter King Ashton Kutcher. Just like the title its about two people that want to bump ugly with out getting to involved. Watch at your own discretion. Blue Valentine - Great acting is all over this film but the movie is long and kind of a bore.  Black Death - Action, action, action. Fictional...

Stanley Kubrick: Limited Edition Collection
Now this is a collection. I really enjoy Kubrick’s vision and his unique film style. Now you can enjoy his most celebrated and in some cases his most controversial films in high def. Films included; Spartacus, Lolita, Dr. Strangelove,2001: A Space Odyssey, A Clockwork Orange,Barry Lyndon, The Shining, Full Metal Jacket, and Eyes Wide Shut ...

This ain’t no Hannah Montana, that’s for sure!
The film Hanna has been marketed like an action flick, and it is all of that and more. As the movie starts, you get a look into the relationship between a father and daughter, played by Eric Bana and the up-and-coming Saoirse Ronan, who live off the grid, training and hunting - both animals and each other. The story quickly picks up as Hanna’s true nature is revealed to the audience. This movie...

Flick Picks: I'll take an Oscar please
The Kings Speech - Who knew that a movie about a rich guys trouble public speaking would be so good. All around great movie. Give it a chance admittedly its not for everyone.  Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 - I know it came out on Friday but who release on a Friday? I did pick up a copy (bluray of course) and it was just as good as it was in theater.  Oh and...

Kubrick's Napoleon: The Greatest Movie Never Made
I am a very big fan of Kubrick. I think that his films have so much more to offer film goers then the crap that is coming out. Unfortunately this film never got made but from the description this is a must have for a fan of the famed director.  “For 40 years, Kubrick fans and film buffs have wondered about the director’s mysterious unmade film on Napoleon Bonaparte. Slated for...

I do this thing where I hype a movie in my head. I play the movie out in and its usually amazing, then i go and see it and reality sets in. I really enjoyed the visuals but I expected that from Zack Snyder (Dawn of the Dead and 300) aside form the beauties, the intro to the film was so well done I was hooked. But the as the film played out it got confusing with what reality the girls where...

Weekend Watchers - Now lets get caught up
Ok, so I think that you have noticed that there have been no post or very few. Well, I have been sick and I moved houses. Life to say the least has been crazy. But the show must go on. Hanna - I loved the first trailer and looks like a lot of action back up by a decent cast.  Your Highness - Portman is good, scary to funny and throw in a baby and school. This looks like  a great laugh after...
