What to say about Drive?
First off, it’s a love story with a good dose of thriller/action splashed all over it. This whole movie is about a boy who likes a girl. And guys, you know that can lead to trouble, right? It sure does! Our main character, played by the (I am getting more talented by the film) Ryan Gosling, is a driver for hire who gets mixed up with the lovely Carey Mulligan because of - you guessed it - a crush. We see this quiet man’s true colours when push comes to shove.
Second, this film uses it’s great sound track, amazing slow-mo scenes, and great camera angels to propel the story forward. The audience is almost able to overlook the surprising lack of dialog in the film because the music has been so well woven into the story. As well, we get great acting from all kinds of talent - the two mentioned above AND the aging gangster Albert Brooks AND the broken down Bryan Cranston! This formula just works for me and, like all great movies, the time just flies.
On a side note, the over-the-top violence reminds me of Quentin.
If you like cars, great visuals, and a very cool film style, you are going to enjoy this film.
Now ‘Drive’ to the theater and watch it.

I love fall for a few reasons one its a great temperature out. Two fall tv is always better then summer tv.
I hate the fall because all the movies that come out are crap or not so great my prime example this weekend.

Dolphin Tale; COME ON REALLY?

Killer Elite; I will watch this but I know that it is action mind mush.

Money Ball; There has to be a sport movie that gets a Oscar nod, right? I mean The Pitt is in it and I know everyone loves this guy but a movie about a shitty sports team has this been done before? That said my ‘Money’ is on this one to be the best this weekend.
If you are looking for something good to watch go and check out Diver and look for my review Monday
Trying to come up with a top ten of the summer list. What are some of your favorites that came out this summer?
by Marko Slavnic and Andrew McDonald. A little long winded but cool concept.
WOW! this trailer gives away the whole movie. Thanks Hollywood for sparing me the $10.
Twin Tower Cameos ~ Gone but never forgotten living on in the history of the movies
“From 1969 to 2001, the Twin Towers made countless cameos in Hollywood films. Sometimes featured prominently in the foreground, sometimes lurking in the distance. This montage celebrates the towers’ all-too-short film career with songs that capture the passing decades. Man, I miss them.”

Back to it. I just finished reading the Hunger Games book series and was happily impressed with the whole thing. I can’t wait to see movies. Here is a teaser trailer.
what are your thoughts? Is this going to a a great adaptation or Hollywood money grab?
